We’re pleased to announce that as of the start of this year, we’re now a certified damp specialist, operating under the DampMaster name.

What this means is that although we still offer the very high-quality maintenance service that our clients have come to expect from CMS, we’re also now extending that offer into the world of damp.

For us, it’s a completely logical move, mainly because many of the projects that we undertake also have an element of damp that needs sorting at the very same time. We’re now perfectly placed to handle that work. So, whether it’s mould on the walls, condensation build up on windows, bubbling plaster or even that musty smelling wood rot, we’re here to solve those damp related problems.

There’s a great phrase in the building industry which says ‘treat the problem, not the symptom’ which is particularly apt when dealing with damp. Many people believe that the obvious solution to any damp issue, is to go out to Argos and buy a dehumidifier, but that’s a great example of treating the symptom. It might work for a period of time, but unless you tackle the real root of the problem, the damp will keep coming back and eventually, it will start to do some serious damage. It doesn’t matter how many dehumidifiers you buy.  

Damp is an incredibly serious problem for homeowners, because if you leave it untreated, it will undoubtedly start to damage the very fabric of your building. Bear in mind that whatever budget you allocate to treat damp issues within your property, it will probably be ten times less than the amount you’ll end up paying to repair the damage that it could eventually be caused. On that basis alone, the cost of damp treatment is an investment rather than an expense.
